“Prescribe Liberation: The Cure is Freedom and the Side Effects Revolutionary”
Setting: The play follows the early lives, education, medical careers, and sociopolitics of seven prominent Black psychiatrists. The action unfolds in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and primarily set in the United States, with added travels to London, the West Indies, Paris, and Liberia. Many locations are featured in the play, including hospitals, clinics, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), doctors’ offices, and historical sites.
